Meant to stand for twenty years, it became the symbol of Paris instead. Across the Seine, the Trocadéro takes its name from a battle of 1823 in Spain. The Palais de Chaillot that crowns it was built for the International Exhibition of 1937, and its wide esplanade was designed to face the tower: the most famous view of it in the city. ## A Trocadéro elopement with the Eiffel Tower view Picture the two of you at sunrise on the esplanade, the city still asleep and the Eiffel Tower filling the sky behind you. This is the view people cross the world for, and on your wedding morning it is yours. We plan the Trocadéro early, when the light is soft and the square almost empty, so your ceremony feels intimate in the most iconic place in Paris. From there, the gardens of the Trocadéro and the banks of the Seine are a few steps away for your portraits. ## Our elopements at the Trocadéro - ### [A Cherry Blossom Elopement Witnessed by the Eiffel Tower](https://elopement.paris/paris-elopement-inspiration/cherry-blossom-elopement-paris-eiffel-tower-aphrodite-michael/) Aphrodite and Michael wanted to be married with a view of the Eiffel Tower and cherry blossoms.
