Nancy & Jason: Anniversary Vows at Sunrise in Front of the Louvre

A year after marrying in secret, Nancy and Jason came to Paris to exchange their vows on their first anniversary: a sunrise first look in front of the Louvre, champagne in the Tuileries, bubble tea, dumplings and croissants.

Nancy and Jason met in December 2022, at a rave. Nancy felt a tap on her shoulder, turned around, and Jason was holding out a shot. They swapped numbers, went on a few dates, and soon bought tickets for a concert four months away. The more they talked, the more it felt meant to be.

Jason proposed in December 2024, back in the city where they met. The dinner he had planned did not quite go his way, so he asked after the meal, and they celebrated the way they know best: at a rave that night.

Then they married in secret, and kept it to themselves for a year. They wanted a day about the two of them, not planned for anyone else, and neither of them likes the spotlight. So exactly one year later, on their first wedding anniversary, they came to Paris to finally exchange their vows and, in their words, “hard-launch as husband and wife to the rest of the world”.

They had never been to Paris. They had followed us on Instagram for years, and they asked for a day that felt fun and stress-free, with the little moments caught along the way. Their film tells it best, with their vows as the voice-over.

A First Look at Sunrise in Front of the Louvre

We started just after sunrise, in the garden facing the Louvre, with the glass pyramid behind the hedges and two of our flower arrangements on the lawn. Jason waited with his back turned. Nancy walked up and tapped him on the shoulder, the same gesture that started everything at the rave, and he turned around grinning.

Personal Vows and Rings in the Garden

A year into their marriage, this was the moment they had waited for. They had written their own vows, and they read them to each other from two small vow books, right there on the grass. There were tears on both sides and a fair amount of laughter in between: Jason covering his face while Nancy read, Nancy wiping her eyes while he read his.

Nancy told Jason she used to joke that she wanted “a six-foot Asian guy with nice hair, someone who’d watch Korean dramas with me”, and that somehow, here he was. Jason said that with her he could let his guard down and be his weird self, “which is easy when we’re practically the same, except you have longer hair”.

Then came the rings, the first kiss, and a shower of petals. A few minutes later they were showing off their rings to the camera and dancing on the lawn.

The Bouquet and the Morning Light

Nancy asked for pink and white. Her bouquet mixed soft pink roses and ranunculus with white orchids cascading down her dress, finished with strands of pearls. With the sun still low over the courtyard of the Louvre, we took a few quiet portraits, the light coming through her veil.

Champagne in the Tuileries

A short walk later we were at the round basin of the Tuileries garden, among its green chairs. The flowers came with us, and so did the vow books, tucked into the arrangements. Jason opened the bottle with a spray of champagne, then poured two coupes for a toast by the water.

In the Hallway of the Louvre

Before the museum opened, the hallway of the Louvre was almost empty, and Nancy’s dress filled it as they walked through.

Sunglasses On: Bubble Tea, Dumplings and the Eiffel Tower

For the film, Nancy and Jason had asked for something cinematic, but also fun and a little quirky, not a too serious wedding video. So the sunglasses came out. We found a street with the Eiffel Tower at its end, where Nancy swirled her dress in the middle of the road, then a café front covered in pink flowers, where they shared bubble tea and a bowl of dumplings, eaten with chopsticks on the pavement.

A Second Outfit and Croissants at a Paris Café

For the last part of the morning, Nancy changed into her second outfit, a white mini dress, and we sat down at a café terrace for coffee and croissants. Nancy fed Jason a croissant, their rings next to the espresso cups.

We finished with a kiss against a tall green Parisian door, and the two of them running hand in hand across a tree-lined avenue.

Thank you, Nancy and Jason, for trusting us with your first anniversary in Paris, from the first tap on the shoulder to the last croissant.
